As a new student at the U of MD College Park in the 70's, I asked directions to the library from a chemistry professor, who gave me a long poetic travelogue about the beauties of the campus, leaving me a little dubious about his sanity.
My neighborhood in Takoma Park is special in many ways, and I love it. So now I understand the professor's appreciation as something more than denial. I am only beginning to recognize the spectacular daily beauty of the place I live.
